Indians fall to
Chiefs, 3-1!
The Souhegan Indians and the Nashua Chiefs squared off in the semi finals of the Southern League Tournament and the Chiefs defeated Souhegan 3 to 1.
A pitchers' dual throughout the seven innings, Kevin Goldsmith started the game and pitched five strong innings. Kevin Goldsmith allowed four hits, walked four and struck out one.
The Indians played seven innings of errorless baseball were led by the gloves of Eric Bullock (who made a number of excellent plays including the defensive play of the day ... a running catch in the fifth inning), Dan Lautenschlager (third), Peter Gallagher (center) and Alex Hession (right).
The game was noted at 0 - 0 in the fourth inning when Souhegan took a 1 - 0 lead. With one out, Matt Reed tripled to right field and DJ Petropulos's rbi double to left center game the Souhegan Indians a 1 - 0 lead.
Souhegan lost the semi finals 3 to 1. The Nashua Chiefs squared off with the Salem Cardinals for the league championship.
A special congratulations to Eric Bullock, Peter Gallagher, Alex Hession and Matt Reed. The four led a young square throughout an outstanding season. Each found ways to help the team grow from the beginning of the season to move the team to a completive level that saw the team finish fifth (of ten teams) during the regular season and the play eight games in seven days and move all the way to the semi finals of the league tournament. THANK YOU TO THE LEADERS who helped the younger players grow throughout the season.
Indians over Keene, 11-6!
The Souhegan Indians squared off with Keene in the quarter finals of the Southern League Tournament. Both teams faced elimination and the number one seeded Keene nine dropped an 11 to 6 contest to the pesky Souhegan Indians.
The Indians placed the ball in the hands of Nick Hession and were rewarded with a complete game victory from the youngster. Nick Hession struck out seven and walked five.
The Indians defense was led by Alex Hession and Kevin Goldsmith in the outfield and Eric Bullock (second) and Peter Gallagher (short).
Souhegan jumped out quickly, scoring four runs in the first inning ... Peter Gallagher walked, Eric Bullock singled to left, followed by walks to Matt Reed and DJ Petropulos (RBI) ... with one out, consecutive rbi singles by Nick Hession and Alex Hession provided Souhegan a four run lead.

Indians over Hollis, 6-3!

The Souhegan Indians and the Hollis Dodgers play a consolation contest in the Southern League Tournament at Historic Holman Stadium in Nashua. The third ranked Hollis Dodgers and the fifth ranked Souhegan Indians battled back and forth for seven innings with the Souhegan nine coming away with a 6 to 3 victory.
Alex Hession took the mound for the Indians and after allowing the first three Hollis Dodgers to reach base and score, he shut down the Dodgers the rest of the way. Hollis did reach Alex Hession for 11 hits, struck out five and walked only three Hollis batters.
Four Hollis pitchers (Stowell, Mangano, McCubray and Pigott) 10 Souhegan hits, walked four and struck out six.
Souhegan's defense was led by infielders Eric Bullock (second), Nick Hession (short), Dan Lautenschlager (third) who registered nine assists.
Mike Gauthier (2 for 4 and an rbi), Pigott (2 for 4 and an rbi), Kyle Adamyk (2 for 4) and Ian Dapolito (2 for 4 and an rbi) led the Hollis offense.

Indians over Walpole, 14-4!
The Souhegan Indians Senior Babe Ruth Baseball
traveled to Nashua South Saturday to meet Walpole in their second game of
the Senior Babe Ruth tournament.
The Indians came away
with a 14-4 win to advance in the tournament competition. The Indians
will meet the Hollis Dodgers at 1:00pm on Sunday at Holman Stadium in
Nashua.
Keene over Indians, 9-5.
The Keene Senior Babe Ruth team scored seven runs in the opening frame and went on to defeat the Souhegan Indians 9 to 5.
Zack Polio (one hit, and two walks) and Eric Bullock (no hits and two walks) each pitched three excellent inning in relief and allowed no earned runs for the six innings of relief for the Indians.
The Indians banged out eight hits led by Eric Bullock (2 hits), Kevin Goldsmith (2 hits and 2 stolen bases) and Kevin Coffey (3 rbi).

seventh win of the season for Souhegan (7 wins - 5 loses) ...
Alex Hession picked up the victory, pitching five innings allowing 2 runs, scattered three hits and
struck out eight. Nick Hession picked up the save, pitching two innings and striking out three.
The Indians received strong defense from catcher D J Petropulos (who walked four times at the plate).

The Souhegan Indians traveled to Peterborough to play the Monadnock Mountains and the Indians came away with a 16 to 1 victory.
Kevin Goldsmith picked up the victory, allowing one run (he had a 16 inning no run streak broken), allowed one hit, struck out seven and walked seven to pick up his third consecutive victory ... Kevin Coffey and Matt Reed each pitched scoreless innings ...
Souhegan defense was paced by George Mukai, at first base, Eric Bullock, at second, and Matt Schagrin in left field ...

7-1!
The Nashua Marauders traveled to Amherst to play the Souhegan Indians and the host Indians came away with a 7 to 1 victory.
Matt Schagrin pitched five perfect innings before allowing a run in the sixth inning. Matt Schagrin struck four and walked one batter. Nick Hession pitched the seventh inning allowing no runs.
The Souhegan defense was led by catcher D J Petropulos who threw a runner out to end an inning and blocked the plate in the seventh when the Indians worked a double cut off (right fielder Alex Lyon to
second baseman Eric Bullock to first baseman Paul Becotte who threw to catch Petropulos to nap the would be runner at the plate.

The Souhegan Indians defeated the Nashua Chiefs 4 to 1 at Historic Holman Stadium.
The trio of Peter Gallagher, Kevin Coffey and Matt Reed combined to pitch an excellent game and control the Chiefs offensive attack. Peter Gallagher pitched the first two innings, allowed only one hit, no runs, walked one and struck out three ... Kevin Coffee pitched the middle three innings, allowed one run, one walk and three strike outs. Matt Reed closed the game, pitched two perfect innings, allowing no runs or hits and struck out two.
The Indians defense was led by Eric Bullock (second), Nick Hession (short) and Dan Lautenschlager (third).

Both pitchers threw five hitters ... Kevin Goldsmith (Souhegan) struck out six and walked one ... Mike Gauthier (Hollis) struck out five and did not allow a walk ... A PITCHERS' DUAL !!!

Christopher Almeida took second on the throw to home attempting to catch Alex Hession scoring what proved to be the game winner ... Indians fall short to
Hollis,

The Souhegan Indians traveled to play Hollis's Dodgers in Senior Babe Ruth baseball and battled to tie game at 6 to 6 in the top of the 7th before dropped a 7-6 barn burner.
Souhegan used five pitchers on the mound, allowing but two earned runs after the first inning. Alex Hession, Kevin Coffey and Zach Polio each threw shut out innings.
Souhegan's defense was again strong led by second baseman Erik Bullock, shortstop
Nick Hession and
third baseman catcher Matt Reed.
Souhegan cut into the lead in the fourth as Eric Bullock singled and DJ Petropulos drove him in with a double to right center ... three consecutive walks to Dan
Laughtenschlager, George Mukai and Nick Hession plated Petropulos.
In the top of the seventh, Nick Hession walked, Zach Polio doubled to put runners on second and third, a balk scored Hession and two Hollis errors provided two Souhegan runs and a 6 to 5 lead ...

Marauders, 11-9!
The Souhegan Indians played the defending league champions Nashua Marauders at the Historic Holman Stadium (Nashua) and came from behind to win 11 to 9 in 9 innings.
Nashua jumped out to a 9 to 3 lead before Souhegan came back with four in the 6th and two in the seventh to tie the contest.
Kevin Coffey picked up the win for the Indians as he entered the game in the fifth, pitched five innings and allowed no run, allowing one hit and one base on balls and struck out five ...
In the third, Nick Hession led the inning off with a single, stole second ...
